CMS Radio FM 91.1 is Canberra’s only full-time multicultural radio station, broadcasting in over 25 languages and serving diverse communities across the ACT. We are community-driven, inclusive and committed to amplifying multicultural voices.

About the Role

The Digital Officer will lead and manage CMS’s digital presence, including social media, website and newsletters. You will support the promotion of station programs, events and campaigns, ensuring CMS maintains a strong, professional and culturally inclusive online profile.

Working closely with the Station Manager and Management Team, this role is central to strengthening our digital reach and impact.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Strategy & Growth

  • Develop and implement a practical digital growth strategy
  • Increase audience engagement, reach and followers
  • Monitor analytics and provide performance insights
  • Identify opportunities to enhance digital storytelling

Social Media Management

  • Manage CMS social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and others)
  • Develop and manage the social media calendar
  • Create, schedule and publish engaging content
  • Promote station programs, live broadcasts and multicultural initiatives
  • Support broadcasters and volunteers with digital promotion guidance

Website Management

  • Maintain and update CMS website content
  • Upload news, announcements and event information
  • Improve user experience and ensure consistent branding

Newsletter & Email Communications

  • Develop and distribute monthly digital newsletters
  • Coordinate content across the team
  • Monitor engagement metrics and subscriber growth

Event & Campaign Promotion

  • Develop digital promotional plans for events and forums
  • Create digital assets and campaign messaging
  • Support live digital coverage of major CMS events
  • Collaborate with the Community Liaison Officer for integrated promotion

Internal Digital Support

  • Provide digital communications guidance to staff and volunteers
  • Develop simple templates and tools to build internal capability
  • Assist with digital documentation and promotional materials

About You

You are organised, creative and proactive, with a passion for community media and multicultural engagement.

Essential:

  • Experience in digital communications, marketing or social media management
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Understanding of analytics and digital performance tracking
  • Ability to work independently within limited weekly hours
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A collaborative team player

Desirable:

  • Graphic design or basic video editing skills
  • Experience in nonprofit, community media or advocacy settings
  • Knowledge of SEO and digital growth strategies

Employment Details

Position: Digital Officer
Hours: 7–10 hours per week (Part-Time)
Location: 27 Mulley Street, Holder ACT (Hybrid arrangements negotiable)
Rate: $41.50 per hour
Reports to: Station Manager

Some flexibility may be required to support major CMS events and campaigns. CMS will provide necessary equipment and digital access.
